"My doctrine is this, that if we see cruelty or wrong that we have the power to stop,
and do nothing, we make ourselves sharers in the guilt." ~Anna Sewell

Delila - Animal Cruelty Neglect________Winston - Animal Cruelty Neglect
Mr Red - Neglect
"Delila" & "Winston"
were the only survivors of many dogs who were found by the CCHS Welfare Officer when investigating a call stating animals had been abandoned at a residence. No one was living at the house at the time, although it was stated that someone was feeding the dogs. The graphic photos taken at the scene are being held in evidence, but the CCHS Welfare Officer states there were many dead dogs in varying stages of decomposition, including one body with his head stuck in an automatic feeder. All the dead animals were in pens or otherwise confined.
    "Mr. Red"
was surrendered to volunteers of the CCHS after many complaints were made about his health. His owner was repeatedly given educational information of proper horse care and was given feed and hay to feed Mr. Red.
By the time the CCHS volunteer was allowed to take him to give him proper care, it was too late. A veterinarian was called in to assist getting Mr. Red back to health, but later he recommended euthanasia for humane reasons.

Starving Dog and "Indiana Jones"
This dog was taken from a woman who says she was "feeding him for the owner while he was away". The dog was in such a weaken state, the veterinarian recommended euthanasia for humane reasons.
Indiana was found on a return visit to the house where the starving dog was taken. He was very emaciated and had sores and severe hair loss due to untreated sarcoptic mange. The photo above was taken after treatment at the CCHS shelter, when all the sores were healed and his coat was coming back in.

Starving Dog - Neglect
"Blue Eyes"
Starved d/t neglect
Rehabilitated by members of the CCHS and now living in a new home, being properly cared for.
"Connie Constant"
Along with over 20 other puppies, severely malnourished; untreated sores; high quantity of numerous types of parasites; due to neglect/hoarding.
About half of the puppies survived due to the care of CCHS volunteers
Connie survived and was doing great, until...tragically, she was poisoned along with some of her foster sisters and brothers.
Conviction...See Court Cases
"Red"
The woman who owned this poor girl had her chained and had deliberately starved her, denying she belonged to her.
Our welfare officers carried the dog to the veterinarian (she could not walk on her own), who recommended that euthanisia was the only humane treatment that could be done at this point.
